5578 - Here's me after weeks (and months) of being called "fat," "overweight," "Miss Piggy Universe," "Fat Queen," "lazy b**ch," and the list goes on. I had to be SO resilient during my time as Miss Universe Canada and especially at Miss Universe. I look at this photo and I can see the pride and relief on my face. I did what many said was impossible and that I wasn't capable of doing. I proved them wrong. 👋🏻I pushed forward in moments of defeat. Many told me to "ignore the haters," and I did MORE than that. I allowed the negativity to fuel my fire to become better. But it was not easy. I've been working on a project that has had me relive some of these moments and I am pushed to tears to think of the judgment women face every day(whether you've ever been in a pageant or not). I am so determined to help others find confidence within themselves before the world breaks them down. I am determined to help others love themselves for who they are despite being told they are not good enough. It is time to stop the cycle of judging others and take a look inside first. Loving ourselves first is the greatest revolution.
