2949 - "When the seasons shift, even the subtle beginning, the scent of a promised change, I feel something stir inside me. Hopefulness? Gratitude? Openness? Whatever it is, it's welcome." -Kristin Armstrong #ASDT Above -Two of our friends who have definitely been staying on top of the changing of seasons. @ChelseaKauai and adventure photographer @TravisBurkePhotography📸// #ChaseYourGoat #VisitMontana
2894 - Behold a rare species in its natural habitat. The largest living member of the weasel family, this beast can weigh up to 15 pounds depending on the number of treat bags they’ve pillaged. Sometimes known as a “snuggle-bunny-baby-wolf” these highly specialized omnivores rely on a steady consumption of pizza and pasta, which makes up 50% of their diet. "Snuggle-bunny-baby-wolves evolved with prairie dogs, so they are long and tubular and very badass,” states a senior wildlife conservation biologist for WWF who has been observing the fair-weather sierran species during the limited times they're active, “Mostly on days when the weather is between 65 and 70 degrees and there is 0% chance of precipitation.” “They’ve evolved over time to be ferocious little predators, designed to navigate tunnels, and pantry storage space with skill and stealth,” she adds, “but a single drop of water from the sky can be their undoing." The 3 main threats endangering this vicious mammal are: not enough belly rubs, mornings hikes that start too early, and lack of human food being shared during mealtimes. “They are extremely smart animals, and sort of like wolves or lions, they can be cooperative in packs – that is, until a pack member decides to wake up before dawn, in which case they will be bitten." Though cute from afar, this species is often viewed as a nuisance by humans, especially those who are trying to keep a small delicious snack all to themselves.
1769 - In the beginning, Jason wasn't on board with this wild Airstream idea. He's very much the calculated, analytical, realist of the two of us. I'm a dreamer. While I've brought him over to the dark side on a lot of things, the Airstream just didn't make sense to him. He took one look inside Mavis when we first showed up in Tampa last year to pick her up and said, "well...I trust you." She was a mess. Pea green shag carpeting, yellowed walls and all. When I looked inside, my eyes watered. I saw flashes in my mind of what she'd become. I've always been drawn to old buildings and houses because of the thought of all of the memories etched inside. I love that Mavis has a history and has been passed through many hands before she came to us. We felt as if we had an obligation to make her new again. To keep her spirit alive. In the end, Jason fell hard for Mavis. This Airstream feels more like home than anywhere we've ever lived. I guess it's because it's something we built with our own two hands. Something we poured our hearts into. And for us, this Airstream has redefined what a home is. 💜
1516 - to all those that obey this simple rule, thank you. It’s really not that difficult. Nothing irks us more than showing up to a campspot covered with trash. #camptrend #leavenotrace #dontbeadick
